6. "VISAVIS" (12)
- a record of attendance (version to be extended)
should one of us have counted correctly, at present there live,
according to page 141 of the Berlin-Biennale catalogue of 1998 (13)
(year of the survey 1997) exactly 547 Taiwanese people in Berlin; (in
comparison: according to information of the German Department of the
Economy in Taipei, at present 509 Germans have a long-term visa in
Taiwan); to have one intercessor is nice everywhere, to find two is
more difficult...
...especially in view of the few world-class Berlin culinary
achievements and the increasing Westernisms in Taipei -
in total "547 native thinkers" are sought after:
at any one time one Taiwanese person thinks of one fellow
countryman/woman, living in berlin, and mumbles:
"Ich bin ein Berliner !" (Basic Exchange)
So taking dialect at its word and intoning: the "Formosan" liquid of
sugar-cane turns into a personal political fluidum when speaking
Berlin dialect, which, when thinking of both changeable occupied
histories, today more than ever needs every vote:
"voice and vote"
based on this "headbirth" I would suggest the following:
"admission free" for all Taiwanese visiting Berlin-Biennale in 1999
"admission free" for all Germans visiting Taipei-Biennale in 2000
(let's design a new bilingual ticket of admission !)
Draw lots !
The lottery of the pavillons of the Venice-Biennale among the
participating "nations" is live broadcasted per radio/TV and via
satellite (as a new Palazzo of a "satellite-nation"):
vom Trabi zum Trabanten.
Now forget all what you have read and believe in this summary
influenced by Susan Kendzulak:
a) "I as a German (artist) want to be chosen to represent Taiwan on
the next Venice Biennale presenting (The Art of) Chinese Knotting"
b) "safe and sound"
(Gate of Riddance)
On the next Taipei Biennale urban dust-carts play instead of the song
"Maiden's Prayer" the different national anthems of those countries
from which artists are participating:
"if God saved the King, We should be safe and sound"
(this could be the refrain of a music-clip to be composed for the
show)
The "sound on the move" brings art to all people living in the city
getting rid of their garbage by throwing it into and through the
mouth and gate of the collecting cars while listening to the music.
